Alexandra "Alex" Mack is the main protagonist of The Secret World of Alex Mack. Alex is an average teenager in Paradise Valley. After a chemical accident on her first day of Junior High, Alex must now deal with the pressures of having extraordinary abilities in addition to the normal struggles of her everyday life. She was portrayed by Larisa Oleynik.
Character Traits[]
At the start of the series, Alex is known as a more or less average kid who is pals with Ray Alvarado. As the series progresses, Alex slowly becomes recognized by certain of her peers as someone to look up to. Not a neat freak or a high achiever by nature, Alex is often shown barely arriving to school on time and ignoring her older sister's advice. She prefers action, fast food, and movies to spending time in the library. Later on, however, Alex is shown being able to tackle the work necessary to hold down a job.
Loyalty to friends and family is shown to be a defining aspect of her character. In a Season Three episode, she rebukes a boy with whom she shares a mutual attraction because of the way he treats others.
Alex likes to collect hats, ranging from the plain to the more flowery and eye-catching, a habit that classmates and family comment upon from time to time.
