On a night with a blue moon filling the sky, a moon fairy named Moona appears outside the Blue's Clues house and tells Blue a story about her birth under a blue moon, with a key that will unlock her greatest gift. We follow Moona to find this key and once we have it, a great hunt all over the Blue's Clues house begins to find the lock that it fits. Once that's found, the key unlocks Blue's Room, a special playroom where she is able to talk. Here, Blue can meet lots of new friends, but the most important thing about it is that she can communicate orally. We take part in games such as "Boogie Woogie" (a freeze-dance style game) and "Dress-Up". Then a clock chimes and Blue returns to Joe, who is excited to hear about her greatest gift.
Once upon a time, a blue moon shone in the night sky. And on that night, on a nearby farm, a litter of puppies was born. There were puppies of all shapes, sizes and colors: brown, white, black and gray. Yet, there was one puppy born that night that was different from all the others. One of the most beautiful shade of blue anyone had ever seen. That is why her name is Blue.
But that wasn’t the only thing that made the blue puppy different. The other puppies liked to bury bones, play in the dirt, eat from dog dishes and do other things that puppies do. The blue puppy, however, loved to read books, paint pictures, listen to music and clap her paws when the other puppies did something that really amused her. What really made the blue puppy special from all the others is that she was born with a golden key, one that would unlock her most special of gifts.
As time passed, the blue puppy found many friends that shared her interests, especially a human named Steve, his little brother Joe, and their other friends who lived with them. They grew together, played together, and learned together. Then one day, Steve, now grown up, left to go to college and his brother Joe came to stay. Still, nobody knew of the blue puppy’s most special ability.
But one night changed all that. As Blue, Joe and their friends stared at the blue moon, the moon fairy, Moona, came to visit and told them all Blue’s story. Blue found the key she was born with inside the pocket of Polka Dots, her most favorite stuffed animal, and her friends all helped her find the lock that it would fit in. When it seemed that all hope was lost, Blue and Moona returned to where she found the key, only to find a sparkling, hexagonal-shaped box covered in pink and purple polka dots.
Blue tried her key in the box’s lock, and the box opened. Moona told Blue of a special place inside the box where she would find out what her greatest gift truly was--a magical playroom called Blue’s Room. Together they went inside and Blue found a place that she never imagined could exist. And it was there that she found her greatest gift, the ability to talk to her friends.
