The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$! is a side-scrolling and vertically-scrolling platform game developed by Imagineering Inc. and published by THQ Inc. for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Howard Phillips acted as executive producer.

Both versions of the game were published by THQ and developed by Imagineering Inc. (who also developed The Ren & Stimpy Show: Space Cadet Adventures). Much like The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots!, the game's levels are based off episodes of the show, specifically "Space Madness", "Out West", and "Robin Höek".

Story[]

The game's story starts with Stimpy making something in his laboratory. This new invention turns out to be the Gametron 5000 Moneymaker, a machine that gives them money for every video game the player completes. Stimpy tells Ren of his new invention, and they both sit down and try to complete every game.

Reception[]

The game was barely reviewed by critics, though reception of most people who have played it ranges from mixed to negative. Nintendo Power did not review the NES version, but gave the SNES version a 2.85 out of 5. Game Players and Electronic Gaming Monthly were more positive about the game, with Game Players giving the SNES version a 75/100 and EGM giving the NES version a 6.5 out of 10.

Features[]

The game features three levels based on the television episodes "Space Madness", "Out West", and "Robin Höek". Nintendo Power noted that the NES version's graphics "capture the artistic flavor of the cartoon series", but criticized the poor controls and unengaging game elements.[1] Conversely, the SNES version was commended for having more gameplay variety than previous Ren & Stimpy titles, but the graphics were described as "[not] very Ren & Stimpyish".[2]
