Thomas James "Tom" Kenny (born July 13, 1962) is an American actor, voice actor and comedian. He is especially known for his long-running-role as SpongeBob SquarePants in the television series of the same name, as well as the live-action character Patchy the Pirate, Gary the Snail and the French narrator based on Jacques Cousteau. He reprised most of the roles for The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. He is also the narrator of Cartoon Network's The Powerpuff Girls. Aside from voice acting, Kenny starred in the short-lived Fox sketch show The Edge and was a cast member of the HBO sketch comedy program Mr. Show, where he worked with his wife, Jill Talley.
As part of his duties voicing SpongeBob, he also voices all descendants and ancestors of the character, including the Spongetrons in "SB-129", SpongeGar in "Ugh", when SpngeBob became the newest incarnation of the Quickster, and SpongeBuck in "Pest of the West".
Before he landed the role of SquarePants, Kenny had already worked with Nickelodeon multiple times. The first was Rocko's Modern Life as Heffer Wolfe, best friend to Rocko. He was even the Nickelodeon Pinchface in a Network Identification commercial. He was also Dog and Cliff on CatDog. Since SpongeBob, he has branched beyond Nickelodeon getting many other roles while still maintaining the role.
His wife, Jill Talley, is the voice of Karen, the computer wife of Sheldon J. Plankton on the show. He voices Cupid on The Fairly OddParents. Since at least 2005, he has been the announcer for the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
He reprised his role as Patchy in the Big Time Rush episode "Big Time Beach Party", and played Bingo in the True Jackson, VP episodes "Saving Snackleberry" and "True Royalty". He also voiced Wally in two episodes of The X's, the taller Nanobot in episodes of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Joey in the The Wild Thornberrys episode "Pal Joey", and Buzz Harris in the As Told by Ginger episode "Ms. Foutley's Boys".
